Abstract

As a student, I am deeply concerned about the risks of whistleblowing and its potential impact on schools. In the age of social media, different organizations, including schools, have become targets of whistleblowing, which can have significant consequences for students, staff, and the institution's reputation. One significant factor is how information spreads faster using social media compared to what was the case initially. It is important to note that social media positively and negatively impact society. Positively, it is behind the development of better and faster communication. However, it has its negative side, which is the focus of this paper. Social media touches more on its impact in spreading false news, thus acting as a negative source of whistleblowing. This is a platform where individuals can state where there is a problem for other players or stakeholders to act. This paper will analyze the decisions and their outcomes in a hypothetical crisis scenario: a school is under investigation for pushing an agenda to change students’ ideology.
